The Biggest Hedge in the World

hedge.jpg

That's what the guidebook says anyway. The Meikleour Beech Hedge in Perthshire was originally planted back in the 1700s, which makes the entire hedge older than the good old US of A. I guess it doesn't really look that impressive from the picture. I went there in May. Which, in my book, means spring. But spring is Scotland is quite another thing and doesn't really show up until July.

I think I've driven by this before and didn't realize it because it doesn't really look like a hedge, just a bunch of trees.

I wonder if their neighbors ever got mad at them for planting it?

This site has a much better picture of the biggest hedge in the world.
