One day while clicking through the archive.org site, I stumbled on this interview and poem by journalist Dave Maass with Kenneth Foster, Jr.
Foster was convicted and sentenced to death under the Law of Parties. Not the fun kind of party.
Kenneth was driving the getaway car during a string of robberies. During one of the robberies, his companion shot and killed one of their victims. And turns out this victim was the son of a rich attorney in San Antonio. So Kenneth got the book thrown at him.
His case was picked up in the media and soon he had a lot of people, including the Pope, appealing to the Governor of Texas for his appeal. Rick Perry granted him a stay of execution, but Kenneth is still in jail and won't even be seeing the parole board until around 2030.
